From Ostashkov
To People's Commissar of Internal Affairs Com. Beria
The investigation [of] the former Polish police detained [at] Ostashkov camp is complete; 6,050 cases have been drawn up.
According to NKVD figures for 4 February 1940, the police and gendarmes at Ostashkov numbered 6,378 (Russian version), 6,374 (Polish version), but on 22 February, there were 6,371 (Russian), 6,367 (Polish); cf. Appendix, table 2B, “Totals,” column 6, and Appendix, table 2D, column 6.
 I have begun sending cases [to] the OSO. We will finish sending them on the 8th of February. The measures essential for the investigation have been completed.
Soprunenko Belolipetsky Subject to return. NKVD USSR.
This indicates that the document could be taken out by selected officials but had to be returned.
