 To Com. Stalin.
The writer Zamyatin has sent the Leningrad Organizing Committee a statement (telegram) from Paris requesting that he be made a member of the Union of Soviet Writers.
Zamyatin's statement evoked strong support and satisfaction with this act among fellow-traveler writers Konst. Fedin, Al. Tolstoy, N. Tikhonov, M. Slonimsky, B. Pasternak, and others. Inasmuch as Zamyatin's acceptance as a member of the Union is connected to issues that go beyond the bounds of the Writers Union, I request your instructions.
