Comrade soldiers and workers! The great events that have taken place in Russia could not have passed us by, we who are far from everything—here, at the front. But if, because of the duty the Homeland demands of us—to defeat the enemy no matter what—we cannot participate in the triumphs of Russia's renewal, then allow us to join with you, if only in spirit, and send our heartfelt greetings to the new free Russia. We are all her sons, and all as one wish her to be free, independent, and happy. Only for such a homeland can one die in peace, conscious of a duty fulfilled. With the help of God and the people, and under the guidance of our superiors, we all hope that the hour is at hand when these triumphs will be joined by a new one—the triumph of ultimate victory over the enemy.
