The money’s running out, we’re taking loans. Today my entire lunch was two glasses of kefir (prostokvasha). I went to the garden, took part of a loaf of bread. I dug potatoes … I’m physically exhausted—from three until ten in the evening I was there, but it did improve my mood.

NEW DACHA

It’s a beautiful spot, what can you say, near the seaside—Sestroretsk.

From the seashore it’s too far to the other side of the railroad station, beyond the lake by Zabolotnaia.

It doesn’t matter, but the hut is just a nightmare, it’s ancient, right next to a cowshed and outhouse.

The windows are tiny, the chinks are huge. Even so, they’re charging an unbearable rent, 150 rubles for the season and the season is one and a half months.

Our kids have been at the dacha since the thirteenth and they’ve tanned a bit. The weather’s now at its hottest, the rain as a rule falls at night in the majority of cases.

I’ve spent two days with them, yesterday Mama left. Olya [Olga Draule] is there. Little Marat [Olga’s son] was there.
