Trial of the “Moscow Center,” an Underground Counterrevolutionary Group of Zinovievites.

January 15–16, 1935.

The Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR, after hearing the case of the “Moscow Center,” an underground counterrevolutionary group of Zinovievites, handed down the following sentences:

1. Zinoviev, Grigory Yevseevich, as the main organizer and most active leader of the underground counterrevolutionary “Moscow Center,” sentenced to ten years of prison,

2. Gertik, Artyom Moiseevich,

3. Kuklin, Aleksandr Sergeevich,

4. Sakhov, Boris Naumovich—as the most active participants in the counterrevolutionary underground group of Zinovievites—sentenced to ten years of prison,

5. Sharov, Iakov Vasilevich,

6. Yevdokimov, Grigory Eremeevich,

7. Bakaev, Ivan Petrovich,

8. Gorshenin, Ivan Stepanovich,

9. Tsarkov, Nikolai Alekseevich—for active participation in the said underground counterrevolutionary group—sentenced to eight years of prison,

10. Fyodorov, Grigory Fyodorovich,

11. Gertsberg, Aleksandr Vladimirovich,

12. Gessen, Sergei Mikhailovich,

13. Tarasov, Ivan Ivanovich,

14. Perimov, Aleksei Viktorovich,

15. Anishev, Anatolii Isaevich,

16. Faivilovich, Leonid Iakovlevich—for participation in the said group—sentenced to six years of prison,

17. Kamenev, Lev Borisovich,

18. Bashkirov, Aleksandr Fabianovich,

19. Bravo, Boris Lvovich—as the least active participants in the said group—to five years of prison.

The indictments and sentences state that the “Moscow Center” for a number of years supervised the counterrevolutionary activity of various underground groups of Zinovievites, including the Leningrad group of Nikolaev-Kotolynov that murdered S. M. Kirov. [The Moscow Center] was the ideological and political leader of the Leningrad group of Zinovievites, knew of the terrorist moods of that group, and took all measures to incite them; it attempted at various times to organize a counterrevolutionary bloc with various anti-Soviet groups, with the aim of opening a struggle against Soviet power.
