The trial now underway of Pyatakov, Radek, and other Trotskyist bandits, who became fascists and agents of the Gestapo, [confirms that they] were attempting to undermine the military might of the USSR, to accelerate a military attack on the USSR, aided foreign aggressors in seizing territory of the USSR, worked for the overthrow of Sov[iet] po[wer] and the restoration of capitalism. In connection with the trial there is a need to still more widely expose the counterrev[olutionary] activity of the Trotskyites so as to evoke the total contempt of the workers toward them. Increase vigilance and observe how members of the Party are reacting to the trial in order to make it easier to identify enemies who have infiltrated the Party. Inform us of the attitude of Party members and the workers toward the trial. 19
