The last attack by the Germans, Ustachis, and Italians on our troops in Montenegro, Herzegovina, and Sandjak, with the goal of the total annihilation of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia, lasted precisely 40 days. The offensive was prepared with great care. 8 of the enemy’s divisions participated in it. Despite the adversary’s technical and human superiority, this offensive ended in failure. . . . The enemy suffered enormous losses. . . . The 369th, 118th, and the SS “Prince Eugene” divisions lost 50 percent of their personnel. This time we also suffered very large casualties—up to 2,000 killed and wounded. The enemy organized a triple system of encirclement, but we broke up this entire blockade. . . . A great deal of military materiel was seized. Our units are now attacking in the direction of Herzegovina and Eastern Bosnia. Now fighting is going on in the cities of Vlasenica and Sokolać. 46
