The Jews are showing armed resistance. For three days and three nights now real battles have been going on. Detachments of the SS, police, Shaulis [Lithuanian fascist armed detachments], and Ukrainians are conducting a siege using mortars, artillery, tanks, and armored vehicles. Yesterday cluster and incendiary bombs were dropped. The Jews are defending themselves heroically as best they can and with the arms available (grenades, machine guns, and pistols). The reserves of ammunition are exhausted. There are hundreds of casualties among the Germans and Shaulis. Our Polish groups are carrying out diversionary attacks from outside on the gendarmes and the SS, and several Germans have been killed.
